My Bio

My bio was boring. I like the blurb I did for the CANSCAIP newsletter much better. Here it is, as edited by the wonderful Karen Krossing. Thanks, Karen.

Erin Thomas’s first book, Draco’s Fire (part of the Dragon Speaker series), was published by HIP Books in September 2009. Her second, Boarder Patrol, will be available from Orca Sports in Spring 2010. For the record, she has never snowboarded, nor has she ridden a dragon.Erin Thomas, children's writer

Erin lives with her husband and daughter in Whitby, Ontario, nearly three kilometres from the house where she grew up. She works as a supply teacher. On non-teaching days, she walks the dog, takes her daughter to school, and then writes until her daughter comes home. At least, that’s the theory.

She is the proud author of four-and-a-half homeless YA and juvenile manuscripts, and she sometimes gets sidetracked by novel marathons and short story contests. Her work has appeared in Facts & Arguments and On Spec magazine. Erin, who tends to volunteer first and ask questions later, is CANSCAIP’s new co-recording secretary.

Other things of note: I studied English at McMaster, then worked as a technical writer before attending teacher’s college at York University. I adore my writing group, Critical Ms., and could not function without them. I am also a member of the Writers’ Circle of Durham Region and of CANSCAIP.
